Cosmetics And Personal Care Products

Cosmetics are care substances used to enhance the appearance or odor of the human body. They are generally mixtures of chemical compounds, some being derived from natural sources, many being synthetic. Cosmetics includes soap, perfume, makeup, cream which is sprayed or robbed on the skin for beautification.

Looking good is good business but while trying to look good and build up confidence, it is also good to be careful of the type of chemicals that is applied to the skin.

Before using any purchased skin care products always read the instructions and research the ingredients used in making it, because in the quest to make profit and earn a living, some manufacturers of skin care products usually mix different chemicals that are toxic to the skin and not all products are good for all skin types.

Use Natural Products.

The skin is the largest organ of the body, with a total area of about 20 square feet. The skin sometimes absorbs what is rubbed or applied on it, dermatologists have advised not to apply any kind of personal care products on the skin. There are natural products to use in enhancing the beauty of the skin when properly mixed. To get a flawless skin mix honey, turmeric, avocado and apply on your facial skin, early in the morning or at night before bed time. It helps exfoliate the skin, clear acne and other blemish on the face.

Eat Healthy Food

Most of the time, what we eat determines how glowing our skin will look. To keep your skin in good condition eat fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and other nutrient-rich foods. It is also drink enough water; water helps to remove toxins and waste products from the body, drink up to 8ounces a day; you can apply the 8x8 rule for a glowing skin. It is also good to avoid processed food including processed oils (Heavily processed seed oils). Healthy oils to use are coconut oil, avocado oil and olive oil, because they are medium chain fatty acids or triglycerides. Saturated fats are good as well.

Avoid Skin Bleaching

There is no health benefit for bleaching the skin. It is not advisable to use bleaching cream, soap or pills to enhance your beauty. Skin bleaching products contain some chemicals which are; Hydroquinone, Mercury and Corticosteroids. These chemicals can cause cancer, using them for a long period of time can result to blood cancer, liver and kidney cancer, liver damage and kidney failure. Study has shown that skin bleaching can also cause hypertension, diabetes, reduce immunity and can affect unborn babies when used during pregnancy. Nowadays some parents use bleaching cream on their children which is dangerous to their health.

Avoid Temporary or Permanent Tattoos

Some tattoos are beautiful but the chemicals used in drawing these tattoos can be very harmful to the skin. Henna is used to draw temporary tattoos, some people usually add para-phenylenediamine (PDP) to make it last longer and produce the black colour.

The longer the henna stays on the skin, the darker the colour becomes, lemon oil and other chemical substances can be added to give different shades. Para-phenylenediamine is also used in hair dyes but when directly applied to the skin it can cause burns. Avoid using dyes that contain para-phenylene diamine or Toluene -2,5 diamine. If you are having reactions see a doctor.

Mineral Makeup.

It is advisable to always apply makeup that blends with your skin type. Mineral makeup includes; foundation, eye shadow, blush, and bronzer, made with loose, dry mineral powders. Mineral makeup usually does not contain synthetic fragrances, preservatives, parabens, mineral oil, and chemical dyes. For this reason, dermatologists may consider mineral makeup to be gentler to the skin. It is good to use known brands, although some are very expensive but they are always better to use than cheap fake makeup that could cause skin problems or irritation.
